Types of Japanese Traditional Houses 

MACHIYA

Machiya are traditional townhouses commonly found in cities like Kyoto and Kanazawa. They are characterized by their narrow, deep structure, with the front part typically serving as a shop and the back as a living space. These houses are made of wood, with features such as earthen walls, lattice windows, and inner gardens.

BUKEYASHIKI

Bukeyashiki are samurai residences characterized by high walls, grand gates, and well-maintained gardens. These houses often feature wooden structures with traditional Japanese architectural elements like shoin-zukuri (writing alcove style) and sukiya-zukuri (tea house style).

IRIMOYA-DUKURI
